Electrical Controls Specialist

Pay Range: $64,000 - $80,000/year, based on experience, with opportunities to earn additional income through project-based bonuses and performance commissions

Position Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and technically skilled Electrical Controls Specialist to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for designing, wiring, programming, and troubleshooting control systems across a wide range of applications. You’ll work both in our shop and on job sites throughout New England, ensuring every system meets safety, performance, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and test control panels (per UL508A standards preferred).
- Program and debug PLCs and HMIs (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
- Install and commission control systems in the field.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, layouts, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in real-time.
- Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and project managers to deliver turnkey automation solutions.
- Document control logic, revisions, wiring changes, and job site notes.
- Maintain high safety standards on every project site.
- Provide technical support and training to customers when needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or technical training in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3+ years of experience in controls design, panel building, or industrial automation.
- Strong understanding of HMI, PLCs, VFDs, relays, motor controls, and sensors.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
- Capable of interpreting and creating electrical schematics using CAD software.
- Self-motivated with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites across MA and NH.
Work Environment:
- On-site based in Chichester, NH
- Occasional travel within the Greater Boston and Southern NH region
- Flexibility required for off-hours support during commissioning or critical system upgrades
Preferred (Not Required):
- UL508A panel building experience

Junior Controls Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Junior Controls Engineer to join our talented engineering team. This position will support the design, programming, installation, and maintenance of control systems that improve efficiency, safety, and performance across a variety of industrial operations. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, over five years of hands-on experience in automation, and is eager to contribute to innovative, client-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, and programming of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation systems, including sensors, drives, and actuators
- Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and clients to optimize system functionality and reliability
- Conduct I/O checks, control panel verification, and on-site start-ups
- Create and maintain documentation such as electrical schematics, panel layouts, and operating procedures
- Ensure compliance with industry safety and quality standards, including GMP, HACCP, and OSHA
- Assist in the analysis of system data and provide recommendations for improvements and upgrades
Qualifications:
- Certification in Electrical Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or a related technical role
- Working knowledge of PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent
- Familiarity with HMI and SCADA programming tools
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative, fast-paced environments
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profibus
- Exposure to robotics, motion control, or machine vision applications
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or other design software
- Background in regulated manufacturing environments is a plus
Work Environment:
- Field-based role with time spent on-site at client facilities in production environments
- Occasional travel within the Greater Boston and Southern NH region, with potential for limited overnight travel
- Flexibility for off-hours support during system commissioning or urgent service calls

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, and implementation of sophisticated control systems that improve productivity, quality, and safety. This role is ideal for a seasoned automation engineer who brings both technical expertise and leadership skills to complex, high-impact projects. You'll work closely with internal teams and clients to deliver scalable, reliable solutions that meet the rigorous demands of modern manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and program PLCs (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), HMIs, SCADA systems, and VFDs
- Lead automation projects including system upgrades, retrofits, and new installations
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues with control systems, sensors, drives, and industrial networks

- Collaborate with production, QA, maintenance, and IT teams to optimize system performance
- Ensure compliance with industry safety and quality standards (GMP, HACCP, OSHA, NFPA, NEC)
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in controls or automation engineering
- Advanced proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI/SCADA platforms, and VFDs
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to read and create electrical schematics
- Experience working in regulated environments and understanding of GMP, HACCP, and FDA/USDA standards
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management abilities
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in food or beverage processing and/or high-speed packaging environments
- Familiarity with robotics, vision systems, or MES integration
- Certifications in Rockwell or Siemens platforms
- PE license or advanced automation training is a plus
Work Environment:
