About the Role: We are currently seeking a Senior Controls Engineer with a strong background in industrial automation to support our growing operations in the food, beverage, and general manufacturing sectors. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll design, program, and implement advanced control systems to enhance production efficiency, ensure product quality, and maintain compliance with safety and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and program PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), HMIs, and SCADA systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Lead control system upgrades, new installations, and integration projects across plant operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with automation equipment, sensors, drives, and networked devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in production, maintenance, QA, and IT to optimize equipment performance.
  • Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
  • Implement and uphold standards in line with food and beverage regulations (GMP, HACCP, USDA/FDA).
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior controls engineers and technicians.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for automation-related initiatives.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies and industry best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial controls or automation engineering.
  • Advanced experience with PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Proficiency in HMI/SCADA platforms and VFD configuration.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Ability to read and create detailed electrical schematics and documentation.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards: OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, GMP.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in food or beverage processing or high-speed packaging environments.
  • Familiarity with robotics, machine vision, or MES integration.
  • Certification in Rockwell Automation, Siemens TIA Portal, or similar.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or advanced controls training a plus.


Schedule:

  • Full-time
  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday (some weekend or off-shift support during system commissioning)
